A medal for Singapore!
Sunday, August 17, 2008 9:35 PM
This may be alittle late, but THE SINGAPORE TABLE TENNIS WOMEN TEAM IS IN THE FINALS!!! Definitely something worth celebrating because afterall, they secured Singapore's first Olympic medal in 48 years. Who had expected an underated sports in Singapore to bring home the medal? Yeah, I think table tennis is underated in Singapore even though I myself play it. I mean, I find that most schools tend to make having previous playing experience as a pre-requisite for joining the school team. I think that's partly the reason why it's so underated here. It's like people are denied of playing competitively unless they are able to improve that much within that short period between the time they joined and the competition. Never mind, I like underated sports. The most underated it is, the more I love it. By that, I mean floorball too. Last Saturday, I was on the bus on the way to training at school. Was watching men hockey match on TVMobile. This guy came to sit beside me and asked if the floorball stick I was holding was a hockey stick. I was like 'no, it's a floorball stick.' Told him it's kinda similar to hockey. Then he was like 'so the girls plays floorball and guys play hockey?'. I was so horrified, and quickly corrected him that there are guys playing floorball too. Lol.

Okay, I'm like shuttling between my room and the living room to watch the table tennis finals while typing this. So pardon me if I'm not making any sense in my typing. Do you know Feng Tian Wei has the initial of FTW? Quoted from Elmo. Haha. Anyway, Feng Tian Wei is my new idol! She's damn good.

So let me review my week. There had been a few tests this week which I half-heartedly studied for. The night before Econs test, was webcam-ing away with Tracy. My first time using a webcam. Lol. Haven't met her in a long time. So it was good 'meeting' her, albeit virtually. So 2 webcam idiots infront of their laptops were doing crazy stuff. Had to stifle my laughters in case my Dad thinks her daughter's gone crazy, laughing away infront of the computer. Refused to do the stupid stuffs like the M1 advertisement she asked me to do too because my Dad was just outside at the dining room.

Webcam-ed with her again yesterday night, this time with microphones turned on. My mum came into my room to put my clothes, then she said she wanted to say hi to my mum. So I told my mum to come to the laptop. Her mum came into her room to put her clothes too, her mum couldn't recognise me because of my specs. Lol. Everyone says that I look different with specs.

And oh, this week, I cut my own fringe for the first time. Not that there was much difference in the length since I only snipped off alittle. Haha.

Mass PE on Friday was spent playing table tennis with Hweeli and Mr Tan. Played King. I was the only one who brought my bat, Hweeli forgot hers and Mr Tan obviously didn't bring his too since he wasn't counting on table tennis training on a Friday. So we made do with two lousy bats from the equipment cupboard. Lol. It was fun and thanks Mr Tan for helping us get the key because the other teacher refused to lend it to us no matter what we said. She was like, 'No, you need to play as a class'. And obviously, not everyone will want to play table tennis.

Failed Maths test with 12/25. Such a pity, 1 more mark, but I'm contented enough because I didn't study for it. Won't make a difference if I studied anyway. Haven't got back Chem but I better pass it since I sacrificed Maths for Chem.

Training yesterday seemed to pass so fast. It was very fun. We started off with a warm-up which was something like dodgeball. Had loads of fun hitting balls at those inside the circle. I thought my aiming was damn off, but the girls claimed that I was scary. So when it was my turn to stand inside the circle, all the girls took revenge on me. T.T I got hit like 10 times and each time warrants 5 push-ups, so I had to do 50 in the end. When everyone finished their push-ups, I was still doing mine. Lol.

We went on to train more of shootings and passings. Yay, my silent wrist shot is getting better, but I still tend to swing alittle too much at times. But my loud wrist shot is still CMI. It's like totally silent, no sound. My hands and legs can't coordinate. I always stop before I shoot and then go back to my original position because I realised my right feet is always stepping over the ball. I must have been a funny sight. Coach's advice was 'You think too much'. LOL. Was so pressured when it came to doing the loud wrist passes because none of them were correct. There was either silence or the ball wasn't even lifted a single inch off the ground. Coach took the whole bag of balls and gave it to me to practise. He said he was going to make it his agenda to make sure I learn to do the loud wrist shot before he leaves after training. Felt like telling him that he might want to take back his words because from what I looked like, he was never going to achieve it. Lol. Told ya he's one patient coach. Whatever it is, our Coach pwns yours!

Stayed back after training for about one and a half hours with Pinn Xian to train on the stage, practising shooting with the small goalpost until the boys came and replaced it with a bigger one.

Went to do some grocery shopping instead and bought loads of stuffs, including junk foods. =P Then headed to Parkway to shop alittle. Mum went into GNC and blasted 900 bucks on our daily vitamins and supplements, her beauty tablets(not that it's working at all, lol) and powerful anti-oxidants(so says the box of tablets). As long as I get to have my daily dose of salmon oil capsules to down with my glass of milk every morning and my multi-vitamin tablets to swallow, I won't feel weird the whole day. Haha. Had dinner at Ajisen.

Unihoc has released the catalog for it's 08/09 products! Okay, maybe I'm alittle slow in realising that, but for a person who hasn't have the chance to use the computer for leisure purposes, that's considered quite fast. Haha. Anyway, they've got new series of sticks. Badge and Volcano:

Man, they're so nice! I want one of those. That, I'll ask after promos. But I swear Mum's going to give me a dressing-down for asking for another stick. Haha. And whether I can still remain in floorball, that still remains to be seen from my promos results.

I want the stick bag and water bottle too! Especially the stick bag, the design is damn nice! Probably will be able to get them without external financial aid from parents. But why do I need a stick bag for when I only have one stick which looks like it just came out from the garage sale? Lol. Okay, after promos, after my Mum agrees to a new stick. If she doesn't, no point in having a stick bag. =(

Almost done with WR Draft 2. I'm so relieved. Been chionging the whole of today to slap together the bibliography and the word-cutted version. Now waiting for Pris to send me the FINALEST(there had been too many files named 'final WR') version, then I'll print it out, and then we're done!!! Cheers! The next time we're touching WR again will be after promos! ^^

Alright, I have rambled enough, time to go practise some piano. Bye! =P
