Last entry of 2007
Monday, December 31, 2007 10:29 PM
This is probably my last entry of 2007. My internet is pretty messed up right now. No idea what's wrong with it. It's running super slow. And I'm getting frustrated because it takes ages for a page to load. My dad says he'll probably send it to his friend for checking. Hope it'll be soon because I can't survive with an internet crawling at snail pace!

Someone asked me if I had spent 2007 meaningfully. That got me pondering. 2007 is the last year I'm spending in AHS and with some of my friends. 2007 is the year where we had the major most-dreaded O Levels exams. All that stress and last-minute studyings. Honestly, at the beginning of 2007, I could not imagine myself clearing that huge hurdle. I was doubting myself and wondering if I would one day decide to commit suicide due to the overwhelming stress. I kid you not. Even though I'm totally against people committing suicide, but you never know what you will do when you're in that situation. I was even wondering how all the seniors manage to clear that seems-so-impossible-to-clear hurdle. Looking back, I dare say that I had spent 2007 meaningfully.

The four years I had spent in AHS, in Sportsclass and in the Table Tennis Team are probably the most memorable time of my life. I doubt I can ever forget that.

I'm not too good with words, and the above two paragraphs came out so mushy. In short, I thank everyone(really, there's too many to list) who had made my secondary school life a wonderful one.

Just a few more hours till the new year. And to everyone, best wishes for the new year. Enjoy your new school life. Make lots of new friends in your new school, but at the same time, don't forget the friends who have always been there for you.

Last but not least, Happy New Year in advanced! ^^

HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY, KRISTY(aka Mrs Dinosaur, KPK, Mida)!!!

You're finally 16!!! And stop being such a crazy girl woman!!! But I know you won't stop. You look like the average 16-year-old teen, but mentally....I don't know. HAHAHA.

Tang yuans!
Saturday, December 22, 2007 10:16 PM
Today is 冬至(hope I wrote that correctly)!汤圆, my favourite! Remember I once said I was in this something-wrapped-in-something(水饺,wantons, paos, 汤圆) foodcraze? True enough, I grew out of it. But I still like 汤圆! My mum cooked some today. You know, those instant type where you just throw them into boiling sugar water? Sounds easy, but I'll probably mess it up if I were to cook it. Anyway, the 汤圆 had sesame fillings. Super yummy! I don't mind having them for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday(and gradually grow to resemble one).

Went to Grandma's house for dinner in the evening. The food was delicious! Sorry, I sound like a glutton but my grandma's culinary skills is really superb, my mum can't even stand on the same stage. I'm so mean, haha. I downed a bowl of noodle after a bowl of rice. Piggy. Goes to prove how good the food was.

It's time for me to go sleep. Goodnight!

Brother's registration at AHS
Friday, December 21, 2007 3:20 PM
I woke up at around 7am because today is my brother's registration at AHS. I could have slept till the sun burn my butt but I sacrificed my sleep for him. Plus, I thought I could help with the books. You know, how heavy those textbooks are. Blame it on the education system.

Together with my mum, I sat through the long speech...ah, scratch that...long speeches by Dr Boon(as usual, the-top-twelve-percent-of-the-cohort-speech), chaplain and the PSG. The whole two hours! Even I'm amazed with myself.

When all the speeches and FAQs finally ended, the uniform and textbooks purchase queue was already so long. Kiasu parents who went to their children's classroom to get the booklists from them and then queued even before the chaplain's speech started. No fair, they cheated! Ignore me, I'm just being childish. By the time, my mom and I went down, the queue had already snaked from infront of 2H classroom all the way to the zebra crossing between the lower secondary block and the upper secondary block. And when I say 'snaked', I mean it literally. The queue was not like one line which stretches to the zebra crossing. The queue formed I-dunno-how-many-broadbased-S'es before stretching to the crossing.

So, what book did I say I would help to carry? Book of Invisibility? I woke up so early just to listen to Dr Boon's speech? -_-

Then my mum met this friend of hers, who lives in the area around my previous house and whose daughter was in the same class as my brother this year and coincidentally, will be in the same school as him next year, and invited them to our house.

I found the daughter to be quite familiar but could not quite put my finger on exactly where I've seen her before. After thinking for super long, the lightbulb in my head suddenly goes dingdingding! I excitedly ask her if she had been to table-tennis training in AHS. She nodded and looked at me as if I was crazy, like what's there to be excited about?

I really think I'm blind. Because she had been to my old house last year not once, but several times. And I didn't even recognise her when I went for training at AHS last friday (and still didn't recognise her until just now)! I even stupidly ask Hweeli if she was Isabella(because I heard that a girl from Opera Estate Pri DSA-ed into AHS table-tennis or something). Hweeli told me that Isabella was absent and that she didn't know the name of the girl I was asking about. Now, I know she's Wen Xuan, not Isabella!

Alright, I'm going back to reading fanfics. Bye! ^^

Walking the dogs
Tuesday, December 18, 2007 7:56 PM
Went to Pasir Ris Farmway 2 with Shanmin & Kristy to do some voluntary work. Well, not exactly. It's just playing with the dogs and walking them. Some dogs are really cute, like this dog which looks like a cross between a bull-dog and a pig. Some are really beautiful like the malamutes and huskies. The malamutes are really HUGE! Probably just a head shorter than me when they are standing on hind legs. They probably can jump on an adult and pin him down onto the ground.

And, it was my first time walking a dog!!! I sound so sua ku. Haha. But you can't blame me for that. My house has a 'No Pets Allowed' rule. So I've never walk a dog before. Haha.

Left at around 5.30pm and went back to Pasir Ris MRT station. Felt kinda hungry and wanted a packet of shaker fries from Macs but it was sold out, so I settled for large fries instead. I felt so full after eating it and immediately regretted buying it. Yeah, fattening!

Bye!

New Prettier Layout!
Sunday, December 16, 2007 9:51 PM
New layout again! This one is even prettier than the previous one. Not to mention, wider too. If only I live in a house by the beautiful lake in the picture... okay, stop dreaming, Connie. Living by the longkang is more realistic.

Why is the profile bar all the way to the left? Actually, it was accidental. This layout was supposed to be a navigational-type where you click on the word 'profile' and then the profile information appears. But I don't like navigational-type layouts and this layout is too pretty to ignore. So I tried to remove the navigations and make all the information appear in one whole bar. But for I-dunno-know-what-reasons, the bar got shifted all the way to the left and no matter what I do, I couldn't get it back to the right side. Since it looks not too bad and also, unique, I decided to leave it as it is. Moreover, I have a larger and wider space for my entries.

Took a nap in the afternoon because I felt like puking due to stomachache. I wanted to use the computer but I couldn't focus on anything. I was busy trying to keep my mouth tightly shut so that I wouldn't end up throwing up like merlion. But the nap did the trick, I woke up feeling much better.

My sister announced just now that she got a job --- giving tuition to her friend's brother on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And the poor boy is only in Primary 1. Parents nowadays...K-I-A-S-U. Anyway, I think the pay is awesome. 25 bucks for 1 and a half hours. And that's for Primary 1 work. I feel so useless because that's the second job she has gotten this holiday. The first was to do an Autocad drawing on computer for my dad who promised her 150 bucks. Yes, the pay is pretty good. Except that I don't see her getting the money. See, that's why I refused to help my dad to do the drawing because the money will eventually end up in the bank account instead of my wallet. Haha. But there's no training for the next two weeks! Do I have to bum around and not earn a single cent? Maybe I'll help my dad out with the drawings. I know my help will definitely be like a gift from heaven(haha!) because he's staying up late every night to rush out quite a few projects for submissions before the new year. Yeah, I do notice and pay attention to things like that. The only thing left for me to do is to learn some of the basics of electrical engineering in order to do out the drawing. Bet it'll take me, a non-physics student who knows zilch about electricity, a long time to learn such confusing stuffs. But if my sister can do it, I can do it too!!! Fighting!!!

Alright, Connie is sleepy again. Goodnight! ^^

12 Days of Christmas
Saturday, December 15, 2007 9:48 PM
12 Days of Christmas was playing in the car just now. My dad, sister and brother were against christmas songs because apparently, they weren't in the christmas-sy mood. My dad wanted to listen to Ah Mei's songs instead. But I just made them play the christmas songs CD. And my brother complained that the lyrics of 12 Days of Christmas repeats throughout the whole song. I was like "Nooooo...every day got new things". Then at 'On the eighth day of christmas...', my brother suddenly asked, "What? Are they gonna sing until the 25th day?" I was too busy laughing at him.

Had KFC for dinner. Argh. Two more hours added to gym tomorrow. ㅠㅠ

Yingiet told me good news this morning. I was so happy for her. Woohoo!!! Congrats!!!

This post is super short. Haha. Goodnight!

Blabbings
Friday, December 14, 2007 9:13 PM
Just got back from dinner with family. Had training in AHS in the afternoon. Now I'm sitting here, blogging and stinking the room up because my sister fought with me over the bathroom. She won. Because even my mum was siding her and telling her not to let me get the bathroom first because I always take so long to shower. So much for being the eldest child. Seniority doesn't get you anywhere in this family, not even the right to shower first because you stink like a pig sty. Only being Mum's favourite gets you everywhere. By the way, is half an hour considered long for a shower? Because I need to prove to my mum that other people also take half an hour to shower so as to stop her naggings. Haha.

I think I consumed less than 1000 calories today. Good job, Connie! Keep it up! Haha. I woke up at 11.30am this morning. My mum made some cupcakes which unfortunately didn't look like cupcakes. I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I ate a few. Yeah right. Actually I was feeling hungry and I have nothing else to eat. So yeah, cupcakes for brunch. Dinner was ramen but I only managed to finish half of it because I was feeling so thirsty after all that training that I kept gulping down ice lemon tea. And then I felt bloated instead full.

Okay, this entry is totally all my incessant blabbings so I shall end it here. Goodnight!

DSA Welcome Camp
Thursday, December 13, 2007 7:42 PM
Ha, I was right! DSA welcome camp was fun! Everything was great! The friendly crazy funny councillors, the games, the mass dance, everything! Okay, I think I had pretty much messed up the whole mass dance. Others were picking up the dance steps pretty fast, except me. Haha. I think I have some limb-coordination problem. I just can't seem dance and then do hand gestures together. In short, I can't multi-task. Someone(I forgot who it was) once said that I can't eat(I mean, something small like a sandwich) and walk at the same time or something like that because I think I stopped in the midst of walking to eat it. And I think whoever who said that is right.

So okay, I'm not cut out for dancing. Give me footworks(even so, I still have problems doing proper footworks) any day instead. Haha. But there's still 3 more weeks till orientation so I still have time to at least master the 'Running Man'. I found it to be SUPER difficult. Yeah, I'll probably give up halfway through practice and end up deciding to run on the spot instead. Haha.

And yes, I'm looking forward to Orientation!!! Meanwhile, I have to find some ways to train while waiting for training to start next year. Gym, run, skip, swim, and of course, play table tennis. I can't let my skills rust just after removing some of the rust over the past few trainings. Haha.

Okay, I'm feeling alittle sleepy and I can't think of anything else to blog about. Bye!

Cold weather
Wednesday, December 12, 2007 4:07 PM
Today's the last day of training because of some studybreak or something. It's been raining nonstop for the past few days and the weather is always so cold. Say hello to Singapore's winter. Tis' the season to be rainy... Okay, I'm not making any sense here. Anyway, instead of a white christmas, it's going to be a rainy wet cold christmas.

I was even feeling cold during training. You are supposed to feel warm when you're exercising because of all the respiration that's going on, right? But I just felt cold. Maybe that's something wrong with my hypothalamus. Haha. Hypothalamus is a species of hippopotamus. Nah, I was kidding. Hypothalamus is a part of the brain which detects temperature changes in the body. Lol

Tomorrow's the DSA welcome thingy, I'm quite looking forward to it. But I can't remember what I need to bring because I was so angry with this person who kept prank-smsing me that I pressed 'delete all' and poof, there goes all the messages, including the one the person-in-charge, Estee, sent me to inform me of what to bring. -_-

I'm having a headache right now, probably because I was walking in the slight drizzle just now. I feel like taking a nap because my laptop seem to be spinning away, no wait, the room is starting to spin now.

Goodbye. *Spins out of blogspot.com*

New layout!
Tuesday, December 04, 2007 9:01 PM
Went to the gym and spent close to 2 and a half hours in there. I decided to do something that would aid in my training(or so, I thought) instead of sitting in front of the computer for hours. Haha. I had actually wanted to do skipping first but decided against it because I did not want to add on to the blisters on my feet.

I totally forgot about warmups, hopped onto the treadmill and turned it on to speed 8. Started having leg cramps after running barely 1km. Lousy, I know. Then turned it down to speed 6 and brisk-walked for the next 3km. Even this middle-aged lady on the treadmill beside me was faster. I feel so...argh.

Shan't bore you with the details of my gym session. Haha.

I changed layout! I found it to be very pretty. I love layouts with images of nature. But the thing is, it's too small. Especially the side bar. I can hardly put the radioblog in there. So, I 'squeezed' the radioblog and it looks kinda weird now. I'll just leave it as it is for now, until I find another large pretty layout.

Alright, goodnight! ^^

DIY
Saturday, December 01, 2007 4:14 PM
The past two days had been spent with the girls, shopping at Plaza Singapura & Ikea for a DIY project(it's a secret, haha) and then working on it at Hwee Li's house. We wasted half the day yesterday because the project didn't really turn out good. Then, we spent another half of the day trying to make it look alright. And yeah, Hwee Li's mom was very hospitable. The takopachis and icecream waffles. Totally yummy! Thanks Auntie! We even got to try cooking the takopachis. I tried to save Tracy's takopachi from going out of shape, but it didn't seem like I was successful either. Haha.

There'll be table-tennis farewell chalet at Aranda's later. Ah, depressing, it's now our turn at the farewell. Hope nobody cries later. Haha. Anyway, I don't think anyone will, we'll probably busy stuffing our mouths with chicken wings. Haha.

Alright, I've to go bathe and prepare for chalet. Bye!
